This volume begins with the Norwich area in winter. At Heath Road crossing it was still snowing heavily on rails that were already buried. The Railcars begin to tip toe a little but the 31’s are still bowling along as if it were a lovely summer day.
Several winter visits to Tivetshall see snow, wind, fog & often a combination of all three, a fine sequence of the G. E. R. at work in the 80’s.
After watching a 31 storm up Hethersett bank we move to Poplar Road crossing where the snow has almost cleared.
Next we savour some historic scenes inside Eccles Road signal box. Spronces A.H.B’s are manned & here we see some dramatic close quarters views of 47’s powering away having been cautioned. At Suton A.H.B’s road repairs are being undertaken.
Next comes single line working at Swainsthorpe, & we watch as the gates open & 47579 arrives from Norwich on the up line, propels the train over the crossover , then leaves for Liverpool St on the down line.Historic scenes show the pilot man & some very slick crossover clamping.
British Rail ran eight special trains to the Milk Cup final in 1985. All eight trains are featured here at, Thorpe Junction, Trowse Swing Bridge & Norwich station approach. It was a very well planned exercise on a wet, dull, miserable day. The stock is amazing & the steam heat wonderful.
Next we see the Royal Mail special from Liverpool St. taking a new lifeboat to Cromer. We see 47581 approaching Norwich with V. S. O. E. stock & lifeboat at Harford. At Wroxham we have a priceless shot of 47582 gently rounding the curve past the box with 47581 at the rear. The train is also seen at Crown Point, Whitlingham & Tharston.
47581 is seen again at Keswick in charge of the Royal Train.
Next we see 20057/131 with the  14.50 Norwich – Whitemoor pick up at  Wymondham.
The video is rounded off with some atmospheric shots around Thorpe Junction & Trowse Swing Bridge.
