We begin this Volume at Trowse Lower Junc. in February 1986.

The mixture of old & new liveried stock was still quite common as seen by the train hauled by 47634. However, 47583 is in charge of a complete set in the new Raspberry Ripple Livery.

Swainsthorpe was a typical Great Eastern signal box where the level crossing gates were also operated by the signalman. The wonderful scene is captured forever on this video. Not only do we see the gates being swung but are also privileged enough to go inside the box. Whilst soaking up the overall scene we see several 47’s pass including 47582 giving us a defiant banshee cry as she hurries towards Norwich.

After a look at Trowse Upper Junc. where the line for Victoria branches off on the down side we visit Diss. Here was a very nice looking signal box & again we are privileged enough to go inside.

A nostalgic look around at Tivetshall includes the one off level crossing gates which ran on wheels with rubber tyres & were operated from the signal box.

Line side scenes by Trowse Yard signal box include 31445 charging past the box & through Trowse Old Station with a Norwich – Liverpool St. train. This is followed by 47569 emerging from the dusk through Trowse Old Station heading into Norwich. Some unusual line side furniture is also in evidence on this sequence.

On the weekend of 28th & 29th of March 1986 Norwich Station was closed for extensive track layout remodelling & platform realignment. Coverage of this weekend include scenes at Trowse Station which had been spruced up for the event. Trains ran
through to Gt. Yarmouth so we have some rare shots of trains  rounding the Wensum Curve. Also included are shots of work in progress at Norwich Station.

James Jolly from Mangapps Farm & owner of 47579 writes ‘Have watched this video several times now. It has great signal box & loco footage, some of the best. On the video 03399 appears with engine ticking over at Trowse station as 47582 departs for the Swing Bridge. Top footage. In my opinion Volume 6 is the best video yet especially the Diss scenes, both inside & outside the box..’
